Green Baize North East Amateur Open Snooker


This is a brand new tournament open to all players over the age of 13 and is being run in conjuction with Green Baize Ltd. your local supplier of all snooker and pool related equipment.

The competition is also helping with the launch of the new North East Snooker Forum www.northeastsnooker.com

Entry Fee is £10.00 with players under the age of 18 at the start of the competition Paying £5.00.

Entry will remain open untill 26th March 2011 after which time the handicapping will be carried out and the draw made, depending on the number of entries it may be neccessary to have a preliminary round to bring the numbers down to a multiple of 8 ( 16, 32, 64), matches will then proceed on a knock out basis with a period of approx 4 weeks being allowed for the completion of each roun

Matches will be the best of seven (7) frames up to and including the quater-finals and will be played on a home/away basis with the first listed player in the draw sheet having the home advantage, player will need to referee their own matches at this stage of the tournament.

The Semi-finals and Final will be the best of nine (9) frames and these will be played at Tables Snooker Club Thornaby on dates to be arranged, official referees will be provided for these matches.

The minimum prize fund will be:
Winner £200.00
Runner Up £100.00
Losing Semi-finalists £50.00
Losing Quater-finalists £25.00

This prize fund may be increased dependant upon the toal number of entries received.

RULES for the Green Baize North East Amateur Open Snooker

1. The competition will be open to all snooker players and will be played on a knock out basis.
2. Details of the number of entries received, handicaps allocated, draw information and all results together with a copy of these rules and entry form will be posted on the North East Snooker Forum, www.northeastsnooker.com and also on the Cleveland Billiards and Snooker Referees Association website www.clevelandsnookerreferees.co.uk
3. When not in conflict with the following, the EASB standard competition rules will apply (Copy available upon request).
4. The lower age limit for competitors is 13. If juniors are drawn away and the home club will not permit them entry, then the fixture may be reversed or played at a neutral venue at the discretion of the organisers.
5. The competition will be handicapped prior to commencement and the organiser’s decision will be final and binding. The organiser’s reserve the right to amend the handicaps after the conclusion of the first round.
6. Matches will be the best of seven (7) frames up to and including the quarter finals with the semi-finals and final being the best of nine (9) frames. Players will referee their own games up to and including quarter finals, semi-finals and finals will be refereed by a qualified Referee.
7. Up to and including the quarter finals the match will be played on a home/away basis with the first drawn player having the home advantage. The home player must ensure that SUITABLE MATCH BALLS are available, they must also give their opponents a choice of THREE separate dates to play the game, these dates MUST NOT all be in the same week.
8. To assist in arranging games ALL PLAYERS are required to provide contact details on the entry form. These details will be retained by the organiser’s and will only be used when players are having problems in arranging a match.
9. Semi-final and Final will be played on dates as determined by the organiser. All matches at this stage will be played at Tables Snooker Club, Thornaby.
10. All claims for games not played shall be in writing, Email is acceptable, and shall reach the organisers prior to the commencement of the next round. Failure to notify the organisers will result in the home player being eliminated.
11. Beaten Semi-finalist’s or their nominated deputies MUST, except in exceptional circumstances, attend the final and Presentation of prizes in order to receive their winnings. Failure to attend will result in non-payment.
12. Closing dates for entries and completion of each round will be strictly enforced.
13. ENTRY FEES shall be £10.00 per player and £5.00 for players under the age of 18 years when the tournament starts, and should be sent with the completed entry form to the Secretary at the address shown above.
14. Minimum Prize Fund: Winner £200.00, Runner up £100.00, Losing Semi-finalists £50.00, Losing Quarter-finalists £25.00. Final prize fund is subject to adjustment dependent upon the total number of entries received.
15. Entry shall be considered as acceptance of all these rules.
